Maple Sugar Festival at Fort Hunter Mansion and Park

So it’s a bit nippy outside…who are we kidding, it’s downright cold BUT now is the time for maple syrup to flow and if you haven’t experienced maple sugar tapping here is your chance.

Sunday, March 1, 2015 for just one day in our area,  the Maple Sugar Festival will be held at Fort Hunter Mansion in Harrisburg. An abundance of activities for the entire family: try tapping a tree, sample a taste of pure maple syrup on ice cream, have some fun watching maple syrup and candy making. Watch a video on syrup making. Also on hand will be vendors who will offer different products made from the sweet treat. This event will be held in the Centennial Barn and adjoining buildings.

Those not familiar with the mansion and sits high on a bluff overlooking the Susquehanna River and has served as a fort during times of war, was a central point for commerce and has been a private residence. Please visit their website to discover all this wonderful area of history has to offer.
